As the new year quickly advances toward us, and we leave the old behind, let’s start it off with a new goal in mind. We at Gentle Whisper Ministries will be participating in the Philippians 1:12 Project, which we have named the P1:12P. In the verse Paul is telling the church of Philippi the reason for his hardships was for the advancement of the gospel. We believe that everything we go through has a reason, purpose, and lesson for us and those around us. In 2015 P1:12P will advance the gospel of Jesus Christ through our situations as we share what God is doing in our lives. Where are you today in your journey? What is your current situation? Join us in 2015 to see where God takes us to advance His gospel!
This project will have us memorize one scripture verse per month, so that by the end of the year we will have memorized, prayed over, and applied twelve verses of God’s Word to our lives.
One of the effects of having a powerful prayer is to pray God’s word back to Him. We also want to see the activity of God in our lives clearly and without question. To do this we need to be prepared by having: a bible, index cards, a journal, or whatever means of keeping a record of our verses and activity.
In Experiencing God, by Henry Blackaby, he tells us “God speaks in five ways: in prayer, through His Word, through the church, via the Holy Spirit, and through others.” In 2015 we do not want to miss what God has in store for us, and the P1:12P will help us to build, and enrich, our relationship with Him.
Items you will need:
A Bible – whether online, on your phone, or in book form. There are several versions available select the one that you understand best. At Gentle Whisper we use HCSB, NLT, NIV, NKJV, and MSG. Make sure you have a concordance in your bible.
Index cards – to write down your verse for the month. This will enable us to take our verses with us and put them where we can see it several times a day, and memorize.
A journal – this is to track the activity of God in our lives based upon our verse.
In your bibles go to the concordance and locate the word that applies to your current situation. Then look at the verses, select one, write it down, and begin to memorize it. We will also pray and include the verse we selected. This is an action that sends God’s word back to Him. Each day as we pray be in tune to the activity around you that is a result of the verse and prayer. If you are not sure which verse to select we will be selecting a verse for each month which you are free to use.
Feel free to comment, share, and tell us what God is doing in your life! This allows others to keep the faith, and press on. This is: advancing the gospel. We look forward to seeing what God does, celebrating, and advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ in 2015!
Phil. 1:12 “Now I want you to know, brothers (and sisters), that what has happened to me has actually resulted in the advancement of the gospel.” HCSB
Phil. 1:12 “I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment (insert your current situation) here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered.” MSG
Our verse for February:
“Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.” Ps. 37:7 HCSB
Our verse for March:
“The People are bringing more than enough for doing this work that GOD has commanded us to do!” Ex.36:5 MSG What has God gave you to work at? Your children, your co-workers, your home, place of employment, etc. This month pray this that God provides you more than what is needed for your work that GOD commanded you to do.
“So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Heb. 13:6 NIV
What do you need help with? Who are you asking? With confidence seek God for his help and guidance. This month turn your requests for help to God and see what happens. Let us know. We’d love to hear!
“But I keep praying to you, LORD, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation.” Ps. 69:13NLT
If there is a desire on your heart keep praying, don’t give up.
“I, I am, the LORD, and there is no other Savior but Me.” Isa. 43:11 HCSB
For the month of June let’s take a look at our priorities. What do we put first? When mornings are hurried do we forget about spending time with Him? Do we push Him aside to take care of other things? In June let’s make our focus re-prioritizing and putting God first, because there is no other Savior.
“For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.” 1 Th. 5:5 NLT
On July 4th the night sky will light up! It will be filled with an array of colors that bring day to the night. As children of God we too possess the same light. In a dark world let us reflect the light of Christ, for we belong to the light and the day!
“Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure- pressed down, shaken together, and running over – will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” Lk. 6:38 HCSB
We will never be able to out give God! No matter your circumstance you are always in a position to give. Jobless, homeless, healthy, ill, happy, sad, joyful, or depressed – you can give! Even if its only a smile, or encouraging word. When you do – watch and see how God brings it right back to you. It will be running over! Do you want your cup running over? I do! Give.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” 1 Pe. 5:6
I love how this says “and at the right time…” this shows us that it is in God’s timing not ours. That can be difficult at times. If you are like me you are a planner, a forward thinker, always trying to be one step ahead of things. But, that is not what God says. Instead we are to humble ourselves under His power. We are to allow Him to be ahead of us. He is the leader, and we are the followers. With that in His time, whether it be an hour, a day, a week, month, or years, He will lift us up in honor! When God promotes us – man cannot demote us! In this month humble yourself, and get behind God.
“because of Your name “Yahweh,” forgive my sin for it is great.” Ps. 25:11 HCSB
God in his great mercy forgives us not once, twice, or even three times. He forgives multiple times, and yet it is not for our sake, but because of His name. Because of who He is. Because He is “Yahweh” the highest name for God Himself. This month take time everyday, and ask Him to forgive you, not for you. But because of Him.
“Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Th. 5:18 HCSB
In this month of thanksgiving may we remember, as things may be falling apart around us, or as you may have lost everything, there is One that has the power to restore, retain, and renew us! Christ Jesus himself, for that let us give thanks! Happy Thanksgiving
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders; and he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isa. 9:6 NLT
During this month may we be reminded daily who Jesus is. His many names, and the reason he left heaven and came to earth. The reason he left the side of God to come and die on a cross. All the times this year that He has came through for you, it may not have been the way you (or I) wanted it, but looking back at the times when things may have been falling apart – Jesus held it together. During the month of December each day take time and write down one thing He did for you this past year, and put one of His names beside it. Was He your Prince of Peace in trying times, Mighty God when there seemed to be no other way, Everlasting Father when provision was made, or Wonderful Counselor when you didn’t know what to do and he guided you. Whatever your situations this year thank Him for Who He Is. May you have a Christ centered “Christ”mas!
