Happy New Year!
With 2016’s arrival have you thought of the promise that you will focus on this week? I have seen many posts asking “What will we forget in 2015? What will we let go of? What will we leave behind in the old year?” As much as I’d like to leave a few things behind, and let go of, with the close of January 1, 2016, they seem to have came with me. Can you relate?
Life seems to have a way of tagging its baggage along, and sometimes along the journey it seems to pack more things in, wouldn’t you agree? There are a few things I’d like to forget, and leave behind, like: unemployment and all that comes with it. But, I can’t. I am employed now – in a seasonal position that is scheduled to end soon. I’m sure there are a few of you that can relate. Leave behind? It’s right there peeking its head around the corner.
For others of you it may be an illness. the passing of a loved one, or the end of a relationship that you thought would last forever, whatever the case when 2016 arrived it moved those circumstances right in from the old year.
With the 2016 Challenge we are going to press pass our circumstances, look beyond them, and expect God to show up and show off! What will you be expecting from God? One thing we should remember is God is not a genie. He is not there to grant our wishes, and give us every single desire. If you’re parent you may be able to relate. I never gave my kids everything they wanted or asked for. Why? Correct. Because they either didn’t need it, or it would not have benefited them. God is the ultimate parent with our best interests at heart. So with that let’s kick off the 2016 Challenge.
- 20 weeks -one promise per week
- 16 minutes per day to read and reflect on His promise.
At the end of each week I will re-cap on the activity I experienced with God as He remained true to his word. Feel free to also comment on how you saw God act in your life.
This week we will focus on Jeremiah 29:13-14 “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” NLT
Grab and index card, or notebook, write down the verse and daily read it and think about it for 16 minutes. Log throughout the week the activity of God you see in your life. In 2016 I am expecting greater things from God! I hope you are too. Let’s get started!
