Our journey together will be complete in five short weeks; however, I would implore you to continue on in your journey with God. Friends, He has so much more in store for you!
When I began this blog, two years ago, God arranged for me to be able to write daily. Over time, and with opportunities He has awarded me, my writing has slowed to once a week, if I’m lucky twice. But, that’s ok. God knows, and already has things worked out. Perhaps one day in the future, I will be able to post daily. I am very thankful for all of you who have stayed with me, and joined me on this journey. We have climbed up the mountain of God’s promises, looked out from the summit at His glory, and now are grasping each one as we descend.
I am looking forward to our next challenge, as it will take us across the valley, and provide us with new experiences in Him! That’s all I will say about it now- stay tuned.
It is never too late to join us. If you are just now joining us let me give you a brief description of what we are doing. We are looking at a verse, or two, each week of God’s promises. We are focusing on that verse daily for 16 minutes (or more if you have the time), and recording any insights that come to us as we sit in silence and meditate on His word. Then at the end of the week I will post a re-cap of my experience, as I encourage you to look at your week and how you saw God move according to His word.
I think my fellow sojourners would agree with me that it has been quite the journey! We would not trade it for one moment, as we have grown closer to God, and become more familiar with His word, promises, and faithfulness! Wouldn’t you all agree?
Last week we looked at Jesus’ instruction of holding to His teaching, and to know the truth. This week, as the dirt and pebbles move under our feet and the warm air brushes over our faces, we will focus on two verses in which God spoke to Joshua. These two verses will give us insight as to how to know truth of Jesus, and what that truth is.
“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Josh. 1: 8-9 HCSB
Let me say – please do not look at this promise as a name it and claim it, or one of prosperity. No. God is not a genie that grants wishes.
What is it in your life you face? A challenge, a concern, a question? Take these verses and combine them with a good concordance, and look up your challenge, concern, question – what does God say about it?
Example: A question I have may be on my language, so I look up the word language in the back of my bible in the concordance. There are a few verses listed. One is Eph. 4:29. Couple that with our verses this week and God tells me, no foul words are to come from my mouth. Instead, only words of encouragement. Following Josh 1:8-9 I am to recite that and apply it, only encouraging others, or just not say anything. Not to be afraid of an outcome, for God already has it worked out.
I cannot wait to hear what God has proved himself faithful for in your lives this week!! Lace up those shoes, it’s a steep decline this week!
